About me

I am an outdoor professional with a small business designing outdoor experiences for groups. This includes experiences for fun and adventure, as well as training work for corporates and educational institutions.

One thing about me that will make you jealous, is that I rarely do anything I don’t enjoy. What will not make you jealous is that this means I’m always broke.

Applied to my work, this means that since I don’t like sitting in offices, making proposals and presentations and attending meetings, I don’t. I do absolutely nothing to personally approach people and sell my services and I don’t want to. I have no dreams of making my business so big that I will have no time to stand and stare.

However, something interesting happened as a by-product of this behaviour of mine. I decided to create a website to promote it, and avoid needing to sell it personally. Naturally, all the designers I asked quoted me exhorbitant prices for the kind of site I wanted (articles, all kinds of content - not just a small site with a few pages of services). Of course, I was broke.

I was convinced that if I wanted to be able to sell my business without traveling across this humid city, I needed a site. Since I couldn’t afford it, I decided to learn how to make it on my own. What happened then is a long journey learning how to make a site, how to make it better, how to add nice functionality, blogs, CMS……. the original site - Wide Aware - has gone through at least some 12 versions in the last three years. Initially, it was almost a version a week or month or so, but slowly, as I started finding satisfaction with my newfound abilities, it slowed. Now, if I want to make a change, it is usually adding something - no redesigns.

Somewhere along this journey, I had found a new love - the love of writing, of expressing, sharing and connecting. With time, this began reflecting in the content of my site, and I found myself ready for a blog. This is how this blog began.

Today, I still run outdoor programmes, when I get inquiries, I am a facilitator or trainer on corporate training programmes, I am pursuing my own learning and development as a behavioural scientist, and in every moment I get free (which is not much) I can be found trying to figure out something or the other for either this blog or the main Wide Aware site.

Incredible as it seems, exactly three years ago, I knew nothing of the internet beyond yahoo mail. All the content, work, everything has happened between then and now.
